At Fireplace Surgeon, we’re not new to this — we’ve got 35+ years of experience keeping gas fireplaces running like they should.
Our founder started out way back as a grunt in the propane industry (yes, propane and propane accessories, Hank Hill style!). From there, he moved on to propane system installations and service, then dove headfirst into the world of gas-fired appliances.
Over the years, he picked up just about every skill you could imagine in the hearth world — chimney sweeping, chimney repairs, gas and wood appliance sales and service, even wholesale fireplace sales. Let’s just say if it burns, vents, or roars, he’s probably fixed it - even installed a few coffee roasters! If you remember Rhino Chimney Service — yep, we started that! We sold it in 2018, so anything after that is on someone else. Let’s just say their enthusiasm for hard work didn’t quite match what we started.
One big lesson along the way? There’s a huge shortage of qualified gas hearth repair techs. Many retail shops want to sell you a new unit, not fix your existing one. Many chimney sweeps avoid gas altogether - way too busy sweeping and repairing chimneys. HVAC techs and plumbers? They’re usually busy enough with their own specialties and don’t always have time to dig into fireplace training (yet sometimes still work on them — yikes!).
Where does that leave you, the gas fireplace owner? Usually out in the cold, literally.
That’s where we come in.
Our mission is simple: maintenance, service, and repair of gas-burning hearth appliances — it’s our jam. Sure, we can help you buy a new unit if you need one, and we handle a bit of chimney maintenance too (like caps and minor repairs), but make no mistake:
🔥 Gas fireplaces are our #1 focus.
